FlightAware is searching for an enthusiastic, passionate and results driven Associate Software Engineer to build the next generation of FlightAware's website on our Web crew. In this role, you will make significant contributions to our web stack and help re-imagine what flightaware/com can be, all while working with a variety of exciting new technologies.

Ideal candidates will have experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: Next.js, React, tailwindcss, containerization / orchestration and AWS/Cloud infrastructure. Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles* will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

What You Will Do

  • Create robust and scalable website features that showcase our world-class data for end-users.

  • Build, and maintain reusable UI components across our frontend products.

  • Detect issues, identify their root causes, develop fixes, and design auditing to prevent future occurrences.

  • Develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software products.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position

  • Development experience with React, Angular, or similar frameworks and TypeScript or modern JavaScript.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • You write excellent, well-documented, and highly tested code.

  • Experience with cloud technologies, microservice and API design.

  • Experience building, scaling, and maintaining production web or SaaS applications.

  • Experience with jQuery, deploying Docker and Kubernetes solutions.

  • You are a private pilot or you are looking to pursue your private pilot license.

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
