Broadcom is looking for an experienced programmer to join our Open Mainframe value stream and work on the exciting open-source Brightside Zowe project based out of our Pittsburgh, PA office. Primarily, our team works on distributed technologies that enable interaction with mainframe services from off-platform. These include language-specific SDKs, an extensible command line interface, and a suite of VS Code extensions.
We are looking for an engineer who is highly motivated, team-oriented and has excellent organization and problem-solving skills. This person will contribute to the Zowe open source project and collaborate within a multi-company squad of engineers on a variety of platforms, but primarily the technologies are connecting distributed tools to REST services running on z/OS. The individual and team goal will be to develop and maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives. #Broadcomsoftware
Job Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and 0-2+ years of experience
Experience in designing and development of software systems
Exceptional defect analyses, triaging, and fixing skills
Demonstrates the use of strong interpersonal and social skills in individual and group settings
Key Skills:
Experience with Integrated Development Environments (IDE)
Experience with Git or other source code management tools
Experience building VS Code or other IDE Extensions
Experience with TypeScript / JavaScript
Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest
Experience with Node.js
Experience with automated pipelines such as Jenkins
Experience with Java or equivalent object-oriented language
Experience with Apache Tomcat or other HTTP servlet environments
Knowledge of REST architecture
Knowledge of web programming concepts
Knowledge of UNIX
Nice to have:
Knowledge of Mainframe tools and utilities
Experience contributing to open-source projects
Experience with Agile Methodology
Responsibilities:
Designing and coding complex modules that meet functional and business requirements on schedule and within budget
Perform unit/module testing of software.
Participate in test plan reviews.
Constantly refine and stay current with emerging themes in software development and testing.
Provide product content to technical writers.
Assist in strategic research and design as directed
Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers.
Interact with customers for support issues, demonstrations, and feedback sessions

Additional Job Description:
Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $59,000 - $95,000
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
