GPU and Compute Architect

 

THE ROLE:

As GPU and Compute Architect, you will work with some of the brightest minds in the world to develop powerful new products that enable our customers, partners, and developers to tackle their computing or visualization tasks productively and creatively. We build state of the art hardware, software, and algorithms in the field of graphics, compute architecture, computer vision, and machine learning,. We define appropriate SW-HW partitioning, architectures, models and specifications for HW/SW implementations. We develop new hardware, algorithms, or adaptations to existing systems to enable new ground-breaking capabilities and experiences. You will also ensure AMDs continued leadership in algorithm and processor design through influencing internal performance design tools and methodologies to meet performance expectations of future systems and workloads.​​

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Power efficient GPU/ML hardware architecture, capable of scaling from cost & power-constrained client APU systems to large data center products​
  • Develop GPU core architecture to meet the demands of future ML-only and mixed ML/rendering workloads​
  • Evaluate and utilize emerging artificial intelligence algorithms and technology for GPU gaming systems, client-based PC systems and data center​
  • Develop ideas for new algorithms, or adaptations to existing algorithms that will enable new ground-breaking capabilities or performance through HW/SW implementation​
  • Implement, document and test new architectures to assure correctness and consistency with planned algorithm​

 

THE PERSON:

  • Strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills with attention to detail​
  • Small technical team leadership, setting of goals and directions​
  • Good communication skills and an ability to communicate well with teams around the globe​
  • Ability to work independently, or as part of a team​

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Several years' experience in high performance hardware architecture development role​
  • Experience in ML/Inference hardware acceleration and algorithm development​
  • Experience in Neural network architecture and algorithms ​
  • Strong programming and hardware modeling skills in C or C++ ​
  • Experience with multi-threading, multi-core and concurrent programming​
  • Strong programming & hardware modeling skills in C/C++​
  • Scripting language (Python, Perl) and UNIX/Linux experience, RTL a plus​
  • CPU/GPU application/driver knowledge and experience desired ​

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • MS, Ph.D preferred (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field)
