What is the Research Analyst Digital Assets responsible for?

  • As a Technical Blockchain Early-Stage Investor at Franklin Templeton, you will play a pivotal role in driving our investment strategy through in-depth technical research within the crypto industry. This role is tailored for a candidate deeply immersed in the crypto ecosystem, possessing the technical acumen to unravel complex blockchain technologies. You will collaborate closely with principal and partner-level investors, providing key insights and support to inform our investment decisions. You will also be learning our world-class due diligence process for crypto and web3 investing#MID_SENIOR_LEVEL

What will be the ongoing responsibilities of Research Analyst Digital Assets?

Deep Technical Research:

  • Conduct in-depth technical research on blockchain projects, consensus mechanisms, cryptography, machine learning integrations, and emerging technologies within the crypto space.

  • Stay abreast of advancements in cryptography, smart contract platforms, gaming, AI, DeFi, and ZK to identify investment opportunities.

  • Build landmark models or equations when applicable

Due Diligence Support:

  • Collaborate with investment teams to perform due diligence on potential investments, assessing the technical viability and risks associated with blockchain projects.

  • Provide comprehensive reports and technical insights to support investment decision-making processes.

Technical Due Diligence and Reporting:

  • Generate technical reports and analyses on the current and future state of the crypto landscape, contributing to the firm's thought leadership.

  • Summarize complex technical concepts into accessible insights for non-technical team members and stakeholders.

Cryptonative Expertise:

    Bring a deeply crypto-native perspective to the team, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the industry's nuances and the ability to navigate the evolving crypto ecosystem.

  • Leverage deep understanding of the cultural, technological, and regulatory nuances unique to the crypto space to help drive data-driven investment decisions.

Drive Returns:

  • Work closely with principal and partner-level investors, providing technical expertise to inform investment strategies.

  • Act as a bridge between technical intricacies and investment decisions, contributing to the success of the investment team

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

Technical proficiency:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as: mathematics, science, or engineering.

  • Strong quantitative and database skills.

  • Python programming language preferred: SQL, C++, Rust, Go etc.

  • Willing to build and experiment in python or other languages to better understand a product

  • Work Experience: 2 - 6 years

Research skills:

  • Willingness to learn and constant curiosity

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to distill complex technical information into actionable insights.

  • Willingness to conduct analysis in different technologies and sectors.

  • Analytical approach to understanding spaces without clean data sets

  • Crypto knowledge: good familiarity with crypto vs blockchain vs DLT

Investment knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of financial markets and willingness to learn venture capital investing

  • Ability to proactively generate investment ideas

  • Strong team player who can integrate into an existing team and processes. Effective relationship management skills and the ability to build strong relationships with external parties.

  • Ability to work independently as well as under supervision whilst you develop in the role.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to multi-task without sacrificing quality of outcome.

Work Shift Timing - 2:00 PM - 11:00 PM IST
