Collins Aerospace is on the lookout for a talented New Graduate Software Engineer to join our team onsite in Salt Lake City, UT or Sterling, VA within the Simulation and Training Solutions (STS) business area.  STS develops and builds high fidelity simulators and training systems for military and commercial customers.  We utilize cutting-edge technology to deliver highly specialized training for some of the most demanding jobs in aviation.  Devices range in complexity from desktop training all the way up to high-fidelity weapon systems and full flight training systems.

In this position, you will be part of a team developing image generator computer graphics for training our pilots (commercial and military).  You will work in a fast-paced, modern agile development environment and collaborate closely with systems, hardware, and test to build the simulation features required for the mission training.

What You Will Do:

  • Capture and analyze customer requirements; derive product requirements
  • Design, develop, test, and debug real-time, multi-threaded, multiprocessing software applications, APIs, and associated user interfaces for simulation and training
  • Regularly collaborate with other software engineers and project management to plan and prioritize development tasks on an Agile development team
  • Provide accurate time estimates for software development activities
  • Support, maintain, and enhance existing software products as necessary
  • Actively learn new technologies and techniques and apply them to new domains and problem sets

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the financial management system due to government contractual requirements

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Development using game engines (Unity, Unreal, etc.)
  • Development with GPU technology
  • Continuous Integration experience (Bamboo, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Simulation and modeling software development
  • Usage of Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Jama, Crucible)
  • Object-oriented design and implementation using C/C++ and/or C#
  • Testing deployment, software maintenance, and documentation
  • Source code control (Subversion, Git, ClearCase, etc.)
  • Agile, Kanban, or SCRUM development methodologies

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
