APX is part of the broader Apple Services Engineering division that powers App Store, Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple Books, Fitness+, the iTunes Store and more. Our team bridges data engineering with insights and analytics. We provide interactive data solutions that amplify the collective potential of datasets, enabling analytics and actionable insights.

We are expanding our reach with a new, innovative team based in Ireland, designed to propel our Data Engineering Intelligence platform into its next phase of development. This role requires close collaboration with our established US West Coast and London teams. We focus on delivering innovative capabilities and anticipating future technological trends.

Description
We are seeking a highly adaptable Engineering Manager to lead our new team in Ireland, focusing on developing our Knowledge Graph and User Experiences for Data Engineering Intelligence. This role is critical to creating a leap frog in productivity through Innovation Enablement on complex systems, Predictive Maintenance to reduce costs and Risk Management for stronger compliance with regulations.

Key elements of the role include:

Strategic Leadership: Build and lead the Ireland-based team, driving the development of our Knowledge Graph for advanced analytics to derive complex understanding from distributed systems

Scalable Design: Architect systems that scale effectively, ensuring the Knowledge Graph can grow with our increasing data needs while maintaining high performance and reliability

ML-Driven Insights: Partnering with our data science teams to deliver impactful analysis and predictive capabilities powered by the Knowledge Graph

UI Development: Guide a small team of UI React developers in creating intuitive interfaces that enhance the usability of our data engineering intelligence platform

Global Collaboration: Work closely with teams in the US and London, fostering a culture of open communication and shared best practices, ensuring the team's work integrates seamlessly with our global strategy
Minimum Qualifications
  • Leadership and Management Experience: Proven ability to lead and run diverse teams, with a track record of fostering collaboration across organizations to achieve significant results, even under ambiguous conditions
  • Expertise in Graph technologies: Experience in building and scaling performant Graph systems
  • Expertise in Knowledge Graph and Machine Learning: substantial, proven and hands on experience
  • Customer-Centric Design: Outstanding ability to translate sophisticated customer needs into effective data platforms that evolve and scale to provide increasing value
  • Experience in Data and Platforms: Familiarity of batch and streaming data processing technologies
Key Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in high-level languages, Java and GoLang are preferred
  • Strong experience with container orchestration tools, such as Kubernetes
  • Experience operating database and graph technologies, such as Snowflake, Clickhouse and ArangoDB
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies, for example ReactJS
  • Familiarity with real-time data processing frameworks such as Kafka, Spark, and Flink
  • Experience with workflow management tools like Apache Airflow
  • We are open to expertise in related technologies and programming languages to the above, recognising the value of a diverse group of backgrounds and potential for innovative solutions they bring
