Job Description

Elevate Your Career: Software Engineering Intern Opportunity!

Are you ready to harness your technical skills and transform your passion into hands-on experience?

We seek passionate Software Engineering Interns with a strong interest in developing and maintaining Java/Spring Boot microservices and database solutions. Join our team to help expand our capabilities and deliver the next generation of real-time location intelligence solutions. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Engage in Agile/Scrum methodologies— participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to optimize team performance.

  • Collaborative Development: Work within a global, multi-site environment, leveraging best practices in software engineering and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).

  • Quality Assurance: Design and execute a comprehensive suite of tests—including unit, integration, system, load, and acceptance tests—to ensure the integrity and reliability of our applications.

  • Microservices Architecture: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, develop, and deploy microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and Azure services that meet scalability and performance benchmarks.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in Java or .NET programming language.

  • Understanding of object oriented coding and design principles.

  • Experience in building and deploying RESTful microservices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex systems.

  • Knowledge of software engineering concepts related to the implementation and deployment of distributed microservices, such as REST API theory of operation, messaging (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.), and data storage/retrieval (e.g. in-memory cache, database).

  • Proficient with version control systems, particularly Git.

  • Knowledge of frontend frameworks like AngularJS is a plus.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure is advantageous.

Note: Candidate must be in Chicago office 1-2 days per week.


Basic Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required

  • Must be pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (Electrical Engineering or Computer Science) with a graduation date of December 2024 or later

  • Students requiring current or future visa sponsorship must be pursuing a minimum of a Master’s Degree with a graduation date of December 2024 or later
