About the Team

The Cloud Build Engineering team is at the heart of our infrastructure. We are responsible for designing, building, and operating the foundational cloud platform that powers Workday’s applications. We are a collaborative group of engineers passionate about automation, scalability, security, and resilience. We work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure Workday’s services are highly available, performant, and secure. About the Role

As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a meaningful role in the design, implementation, and operation of cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining features, integrating various systems, and supporting our overall cloud architecture. You will contribute to the development and execution of Workday’s cloud implementation strategy, building services to improve security, resilience, and usability. You will tap into your expertise in automation, scripting, and monitoring to ensure the smooth delivery of our cloud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement Cloud Platform, deliver features and integrations within Workday’s Cloud infrastructure.

  • Automate routine tasks and deploy scripts using version control systems (e.g., Git) and various programming languages.

  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams (development, operations, security) to improve system operability through continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).

  • Fix and resolve complex infrastructure issues.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience, and a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.

  • 3+ years as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP). AWS Preferred.

  • 3+ years of proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).

  • 2+ years with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) + 2+ years with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • 2+ years with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) + 2+ years monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Splunk).

  • 2+ years demonstrating a strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls).

  • 2+ years of experience in a production environment, with confirmed problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Other Qualifications

  • Experience with various Cloud Computing service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and deployment models (public, private, hybrid, multi-cloud).

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and methodologies, particularly in automating software delivery and infrastructure management.

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications.

  • Experience with Linux system administration, including shell scripting and server configuration.

  • Knowledge of Cloud Networking concepts, including network virtualization and security protocols within cloud environments.


Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $128,800 USD - $193,200 USD


 

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $122,400 USD - $217,200 USD
