Provides institutional expertise in laboratory operational needs including connectivity and interfacing of analyzers, middleware, and general computing needs. Evaluates and promotes new technologies with a focus on streamlining manual processes and increasing overall quality. Participates in the development and advanced implementation support of automated clinical processes. Provides at-the-elbow and other first-line end-user support for laboratory staff. Coordinates and champions lab IT requests.
General Description:
Under general direction supports Laboratory services through research, development and management of lab interface and/or databases.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Completes monthly compliance audits
- Maintains lab charge master
- Maintains client database
- Assists in the install of new lab equipment interfaces
- Maintains accurate records of database changes
- Assists laboratory staff in analyzing and releasing test data
- Provides timely notification to Patient Accounting of errors
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in biological science, medical technology or computer science
Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a medical technologist or previous experience with managing interfaces and databases
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Knowledge of computers in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to prioritize projects and work efficiently.
- Good problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively with others to provide quality patient care.
