Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate, collaborative, and experienced attorney to support Comcast’s global privacy and information security program with a particular focus on supporting our Corporate group and Comcast Spectacor, the organization that owns and operates the Philadelphia Flyers, the Wells Fargo Center, and various other sports, entertainment and gaming properties. Strong familiarity with the relevant legal and regulatory landscape in this area is required, as well as experience in providing counsel on U.S. and international data privacy, information security, data governance, and artificial intelligence requirements. Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Keeps abreast of new developments, best practices and industry standards around the world in the areas of Privacy, Information and Cyber Security, Data/Digital Governance, and Artificial Intelligence (the Data Ecosystem).
  • Assists in analyzing new legal and business requirements related to the digital ecosystem and providing counsel and support to our operating entities.

  • Provides leadership in one or more legal specialties and disseminates information on trends and innovations within the specialty.
  • Engages and directs outside counsel to undertake specific and complex work requiring the application of highly specialized legal knowledge.
  • Represents Company with respect to threatened litigation and analyzes claims or threats of litigation.
  • Reviews litigation pleadings and case strategy, as needed.
  • Leads and provides guidance to legal staff including junior Attorneys, Paralegals and administrative staff, as required.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Handle privacy, data protection, data governance and artificial intelligence-related inquiries from a wide range of groups within the company and provide actionable advice and legal counsel to facilitate compliance.
  • Evaluate various Comcast programs and initiatives for compliance with relevant legal and business requirements.
  • Work closely with enterprise and business unit stakeholders to embed privacy principles into business plans and strategic initiatives during the design and execution process.
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance and implementation of policies, processes, data inventories and records of processing, and associated documentation relating to processing of data.
  • Review of existing Privacy Policies and other internal governance documents for consistency with company practices.
  • Review existing policies for newly acquired entities and where appropriate, perform a gap analysis and develop consistent policies and standards.
  • Assist with Privacy Impact and Risk Assessments relating to new businesses and initiatives involving processing of personal information.
  • Monitor and summarize relevant legislative developments, case law, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions globally.
  • Review, draft and negotiate various types of agreements (e.g., vendor/service provider agreements, customer agreements, data processing, data transfer, and data usage agreements, etc.).
  • Conduct awareness and training efforts as needed and/or required to increase employee understanding of company privacy policies, data handling practices and procedures, and legal obligations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 8-13 years combined legal experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department, with at least 7 years of privacy/data protection experience strong preferred
  • Juris Doctor (JD); Privacy, security, and/or AI  certification(s) preferred.
  • Member in good standing of PA state bar, or with ability to obtain full or limited in-house license in PA.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with global privacy, information security and AI laws, regulations and standards, including GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA, U.S. state and federal data privacy, security, breach notification, consumer protection laws, regulations and proposed legislation and proven ability to provide timely and practical guidance to the business.
  • Demonstrated transactional experience, including reviewing, drafting and negotiating privacy and data protection contract terms and agreements, data processing, usage, and/or transfer agreements.
  • Experience with conducting privacy risk and impact assessments and advising on applicable legal requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large scale projects with numerous stakeholders.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality results.
  • Self-motivated and independent, but able to discern when matters should be escalated and when further guidance is needed.
  • Ability to translate legal requirement into practical guidance and formulate creative solutions to accomplish the company’s objectives.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Sound judgment, strong work ethic, excellent problem solving and organization skills, practicality, a focus on business outcomes and flexibility to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Some travel may be required.
