Summary of Duties

As an Office Specialist 2, you will:

  • Provide clerical support to child welfare caseworkers and unit supervisors.

  • Serve as a receptionist at the front desk of the child welfare office – checking people in, providing customer service, answering the phone.

  • Ensure the timely production of all payments and policy and procedural requirements.

  • Review forms and letters for accuracy.

  • Process all paperwork, guaranteeing documentation of responsible services to clients and consumers.

  • Perform a wide variety of administrative, general office and record processing tasks.

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

  • An associate degree in any field; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Attributes

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience defining and explaining rules, regulations, and procedures for programs and services.

  • Experience navigating technology, inputting, and retrieving data, navigating various computer systems or databases, including Microsoft 365 programs.

  • Previous Administrative experience with working knowledge of basic office procedures.

  • Experience engaging and building collaborative relationships with community partners, agency staff, clients, and impacted communities.

  • Experience interacting with diverse groups of people in a respectful and compassionate manner.

*Preference will be given to candidates that are bilingual in Spanish and English.

Working Conditions

  • Your work will take place in the office.

  • Your typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).

  • You will have frequent travel between the Clackamas and Oregon City ODHS offices to provide coverage.

  • You will interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.

  • Finalists must be cleared by the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) through a fingerprint-based criminal records check. 

  • The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship. Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Security’s I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. ODHS will use E-Verify to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.
