Job Title: Senior Software Engineer - Data
Location: Bangalore (Hybrid)
Business & Team
Day to day, you will be involved in designing and implementing effective solutions across a variety of products and services. You will also help ensure that our customer service teams have the technology tools available to provide our customers with world-class end-to-end banking experience with CommBank, 24/7.
Impact & Contribution
As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will be responsible for building and running the data pipelines and services that are required to support business functionality/reports/dashboard.
The right candidate must be both technically and functionally versed in building a business intelligence suite from the ground up. Collaboration with and contribution to a cross-functional team will be key to the successful delivery of business requirements. This role requires an energetic attitude, creative problem-solving, a passion for technology and data, excellent communication, relationship-building skills, as well as flexibility in approach and design.
Roles & Responsibilities
You will be expected to perform the following tasks and responsibilities in a manner consistent with CBA’s Values and People Capabilities.
- Ownership and governance of Business Banking Technologsolution designs
- Designing, developing, and implementing scalable, automated processes for data extraction, processing, and analysis in a Data Mesh architecture
- Work with senior technical and business management teams in identifying issues of current state architecture, developing target state architecture with the ability to communicate the features and benefits
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise
- Looking for ways of improving both what and how data pipelines are delivered by the Squad.
- Owning the delivery of data models and reports end to end.
- Perform exploratory data analysis in order to identify data quality issues early in the process and implement tests to ensure prevent them in the future.
- Continually learning modern technology best practices and bring them back to the group. Go above and beyond in improving quality and performance in the delivery of efficient, reliable and maintainable applications and solutions.

Essential Skills
- 6 to 10 Years Data Engineering & Design Experience in a specialized area.
- Experience in agile processes, such as SCRUM.
- Extensive experience in writing advanced T-SQL statements like stored procedures and macros
- Extensive experience in performance tuning of the SQL’s
- Experience in different Teradata Utilities like BTEQ , Fast Load, MLoad, FLoad etc
- High level of communications skills, including the demonstrated ability to solicit opinions and accept feedback.
- Experience in operating effectively as part of cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in key capabilities – IT SDLC processes, written documentation/ specification skills
- Knowledge and exposure to cloud technologies
- Experience in working across a number of technical domains with the ability to ‘deep dive’ where required and implement optimal solutions.
- Working experience in the banking industry
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
