Overview:
The Cyber and Intelligence Solutions (C&I) team is responsible for product management and innovative product development of products and services to address the evolving risk & cyber security needs of all of MasterCard’s various customer segments. The C&I team was established with the responsibility to safeguard all aspects of safety and security in payments and have made great strides with new products, services and standards, positively impacting all aspects of our current and future payment eco-system.
Ekata, a Mastercard company, is the global standard in identity verification, providing businesses worldwide the ability to link any digital transaction to the human behind it. Our Ekata Identity Engine, the first and only of its kind, uses complex machine learning to combine features derived from the billions of transactions within our proprietary network and the data from our graph to deliver industry leading risk assessment solutions.
We are looking for a Lead Software Development Engineer to work in our Budapest office, who thrives on designing, coding and maintaining low latency applications on JVM based languages. Our ideal candidate would have experience in building and maintaining microservices in Scala/Clojure and have a strong interest in working with data in a low latency environment.

In this role You will:
- Be part of a creative and innovative team
- Create solutions with high level of innovation, cost effectiveness, high quality and faster time to market.
- Lead day to day system development and maintenance activities of the team to meet service level agreements (SLAs)
- Research on current and upcoming technologies and provide recommendations to Management. Perform PoCs (Proof of Concept) and help team in the selection of Technology.
- Build optimized and scalable code and algorithms
- Technical leadership of development tasks and projects
- Cross-team collaboration and architecture ownership of the products of the team(s)
- Deploy, monitor and maintain microservices
- Independently analyze, propose and develop solutions for the most complex technical problems and issues
- Lead technical design reviews, budget planning, technical roadmap planning
- Communicate closely and effectively with engineering management, leads, and peers to gather and understand requirements, share project status and deal with unexpected issues
- Ensure and enforce the adherence to the standards and procedures that result in an environment compliant with information security policy
- Mentor junior and senior colleauges.
All About You:
- Experience in developing and deploying microservices architectures
- Proven experience with the JVM based languages and projects (e.g. Scala, Clojure, JAVA or similar)
- Relevant senior-level experience in software development (java, Clojure, .Net)
- Experience in containerization technologies – Docker, Kubernetes
- Experience with Amazon Web Services, especially EC2, S3, Elasticsearch, and Kinesis is a plus
- Proficient with software Architecture, design patterns and strong demonstrated experience in building frameworks
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle based on Atlassian platforms (Jira, Confluence)
- Proven ability to write clean code that works, is readable, maintainable and follows best practices and coding standards, on schedule (like OWASP, SOA)
- Mature understanding and technical leadership of OO and functional design, languages, algorithms, data structures, networking, database design and optimization (CAP, CI/CD)
- A philosophy of iteration and continuous improvement (agile, SCRUM)
