About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Software Engineer with full stack and machine learning expertise to lead our AI system deployment. You will work with researchers and students to deploy AI systems in up to 200 homes in Atlanta, GA. You will be responsible for designing and deploying the infrastructure that connects sensors, AI inference systems, large foundational models, and mobile applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain a robust software infrastructure that connects and stores sensor information from wearables, home sensors, third-party applications with existing research systems (including large foundation models) that interpret the incoming data, process them, and interface with users. Work with students to translate research grade code to deployable systems. 

  • Lead Northeastern’s AI-CARING deployment team. Liaison with our partner institution on our needs and the digital connection between our systems and the deployed site in Atlanta, GA. Plan and execute an integration plan so that our system can be integrated at the deployed site in a timely fashion. 

  • Help run and participate in Northeastern’s AI-CARING outreach and community-building programs. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent degree 

  • Four to six years of relevant experience 

  • Experience with full stack development and managing cloud VMs and servers. 

  • Strong software development skills. 

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. 

 
Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master's or PhD in computer science or equivalent degree preferred. 

  • Expertise in deploying large machine learning models.
