Position Summary

Performs data management and/or data analysis for investigators using statistical packages. Assists investigators in the design of experiments, clinical trial and epidemiological studies.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with organization, cleaning, and management of data using Stata

  • Conduct analysis of data as requested by the research team using reproducible methods

  • Develop tables, figures for research papers

  • Develop online dashboards to showcase results

  • Contribute to research papers (e.g., by writing methods and results sections)

  • Support writing and development of policy briefs

  • Develop PowerPoint presentations

  • Support other study activities, such as but not limited to writing grant proposals, study protocols, editing research instruments, and presenting in methods workshops

  • Collaborate with external colleagues/experts to develop and implement best practice methods, such as for surveys

  • Develop and maintain internal and public-facing research materials (e.g., Stata do files and data templates, methods documents, research guidelines)

  • Communicate with research colleagues in the US and other countries

  • Report to the QuEST Network Director and senior team members.

The Quality Evidence for Health System Transformation (QuEST) Network in the Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics in the Department of Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a Research Analyst to support research on global health system quality and performance. 

The QuEST Network, a university-wide research center at WashU, is a global partnership of researchers, policymakers, multilateral organizations, national governments, and development partners who are advancing health system quality research. The QuEST Network, inspired by the Lancet Global Health Commission on High Quality Health Systems, seeks to build the evidence base to support transformation to high quality health systems by improving measurement, testing solutions, and creating generalizable knowledge. Professor Margaret Kruk, Director of the QuEST Network, leads several research projects related to improving performance of health systems.

Professor Margaret Kruk and the QuEST team at WashU are seeking a motivated and capable Research Analyst to pursue innovative analyses with the potential for high policy impact across high-, middle-, and low-income country health systems. The analyses will be predominantly quantitative using primary and secondary data from individual, household, and facility surveys, health information systems, and other sources. In addition to supporting contributions to the academic literature, the Analyst may aid the development of related research materials, such as study protocols, codebooks, presentations, and policy reports, and the execution of research activities, such as study design, interpretation of results, and communication of new insights to broad audiences. 

Familiarity with health systems and data in low- and middle-income countries is highly desirable.

This position will offer broad experience in an active research environment, supportive supervision, a congenial team, as well as opportunities for authorship and additional methods learning. The position may involve limited travel to project countries and/or within the United States.

Salary Range

$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
