Job Description

Job Summary
The SOX Audit, Standardization, and Automation Engineer is responsible for enhancing and streamlining the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) audit processes through the standardization of internal control procedures and the implementation of automation tools. This role focuses on driving efficiencies in SOX compliance by standardizing controls and automating manual processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial controls and compliance. The SOX engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including internal audit, finance, IT, and external auditors, to ensure that SOX audits are completed effectively, with a focus on reducing risk and improving overall process efficiency.

Responsibilities
•Standardize and document the SOX audit processes, including internal control assessments, testing, and reporting.

•Work with business units to standardize internal controls across multiple departments and processes to ensure consistent and effective compliance with SOX.

•Identify inefficiencies and gaps in current SOX compliance practices and propose standardized solutions for improvement.

Identify opportunities for automating manual SOX audit tasks, such as control testing, reporting, and documentation, using appropriate software tools and technologies.

Lead the implementation of automation tools for testing and monitoring controls, including the design of automated workflows for control testing, evidence collection, and reporting.

Work with IT and other departments to evaluate and implement automation technologies, such as robotic process automation (RPA), audit management software, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.

Develop automated scripts and testing protocols for assessing internal controls for financial reporting and operational processes.

Integrate automated control testing into the broader SOX compliance framework and reporting.

Collaborate with internal audit, finance, IT, and operations teams to understand existing SOX compliance processes and identify opportunities for improvement and automation.

Work closely with process owners to ensure that automated solutions are seamlessly integrated into their day-to-day activities.

Provide training and support to stakeholders on standardized processes and automation tools.

Create and maintain clear documentation related to automated processes, including workflows, controls, testing plans, and audit results.

Prepare and present regular reports on the status of SOX audit activities, focusing on the efficiency gains from automation and process standardization.

Ensure that all SOX audit and compliance activities are adequately documented in line with regulatory requirements.

Stay current with the latest developments in SOX compliance, automation technologies, and best practices.

Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in SOX compliance, or a related field.
