The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53,000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.
The Business Banking BB payments Technology team bring together the processes, people and technology assets that support real-time, bulk electronic, cheques, high value and international payments across the bank. As part of the Batch Payments crew and the Software Engineering chapter you will work across a number of batch payment systems.
As a Software Engineer, you'll be doing hands-on coding, developing components for application and be responsible for shaping the evolution of our platform by contributing to end-to-end design, implementation, and delivery with opportunities to learn more about software engineering. Here, you’ll get to turn your passion into reality, working with new technology on state-of-the-art projects to enable a seamless and unrivalled customer experience. You'll also be invited to build your expertise and create networking opportunities by participating in our regular engineering guilds.

Have solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and best practices.
Are passionate about building high quality software solutions with comprehensive test coverage.
Collaborates within the team to apply the principles of design, development, testing, deployment, support, and evaluation.
Are actively involved in continuous learning, experimentation, and participate in peer code reviews.
Are constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems.
Work well in teams and have strong collaboration skills in driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Tech Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
Experience in Java/J2EE, Spring suite, Microservices, Rest API Integration and Solution Design
Familiar with “Everything as code” development approach and experience with related tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, Python
Working knowledge of AWS services like EKS, Helm charts, Lambda
Designing and building Serverless applications and running containerised applications at scale
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
Shift-left mindset - developing and maintaining automation, unit, integration & UI testing through use of mocks
Any experience with the following would be great – TypeScript, Golang, Payments domain
