Job Details

The Data Science Manager is responsible for leading a team of data scientists in areas including machine learning, predictive modeling and forecasting in the healthcare domain. In this role, you will be working with cross functional stakeholders to identify and prioritize use cases, define success metrics and produce a roadmap leading to delivery of final solutions. To be successful in this role, you will need to have proficiency in data science, related software tools and cloud computing infrastructure. Experience in healthcare is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the vision, roadmap and execution plan for the data science team with emphasis on delivering business value 
  • Lead, manage and mentor the data science team and provide both technical and career development guidance 
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to drive business outcome 
  • Work with large and complex data to solve challenging problems in healthcare using variety of machine learning and statistical techniques 
  • Stay up to date on technical advancements in data science and AI/ML  
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Master in Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Economics, Applied Math, or other related fields.

Complexity of Work:

  • Proven track record of delivering data science projects preferably in healthcare domain 
  • Proficiency in standard data science programming languages such as SQL, Python or R, and machine learning packages such as numpy, pandas, PyTorch, TensorFLow. 
  • Experience in Healthcare and familiarly with EHR such as Epic Systems, preferred
  • Familiarity with cloud data and ML platforms such ad Databricks and Snowflake 
  • Familiarity with machine learning and generative AI frameworks and technology stack including PyTorch, HuggingFace, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, etc. 

Work Experience:

  • 5 years hands-on data science post master’s inclusive of 2 years of leading or mentoring data science teams 
  • Offset: PhD and 3 years of hands-on data science experience post PhD, inclusive of 2 years of leading or mentoring data science teams
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical and technical audiences alike. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
