What you’ll do
- Leads multiple project teams of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of design and development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
- Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.
- Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
- Provides domain-specific expertise and overall software systems leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
- Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization.\
- As an embedded developer in FLM, the engineer will be responsible for developing new features and enhancing existing features in the product. The embedded environment is an embedded Linux platform
- Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of firmware, including embedded code
- Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution.
- Work closely with test teams and partner/vendor teams to ensure good product quality and seamless integration with the partner/vendor subsystem/components/code
- Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application/sub systems; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture
- Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding firmware design status, project progress, and issue resolution
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced other team members
- Demonstrates strong sense of ownership, account ability and take initiatives to enhance product quality continuously
- Actively participates quality initiatives- analyses customer cases, spots trends to come up with improvements and assists in development of effective customer documentation (RN, Advisories, etc.)
- Ability to drive fast-paced projects forward independently and in a team environment.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, technical environment
- Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced partners regarding project status, progress, and problem resolution
What you need to bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- Typically 8-14 years experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive experience with multiple software systems design tools and languages.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
- Designing and integrating software systems running on multiple platform types into overall architecture.
- Evaluating forms and processes for software systems testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
- Using software systems design tools and languages.
- Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Designing software systems running on multiple platform types.
- Strong C programming experience in Linux environment
- Linux Systems programming
- Python programming experience
- Developing Manageability/system applications
- Knowledge of networking protocols, Security features and embedded protocols
- Expertise in multiple firmware design tools and languages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Designing Software/firmware, including interaction and integration with hardware design
- Good debugging and problem-solving skills
- Software systems testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English language. Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.
