Role and Responsibilities

We’re looking for a talented Staff Software Engineer interested in enhancing the Samsung Ecommerce platform to add marketplace capabilities catering to B2C and B2B channels that power our existing and future businesses.  As a Senior Engineer, you will work cross-functionally with the product team, design solutions, contribute to the primary development work for our backend services, create the scalable high-performant design, identify opportunities for optimizations, enhance partner integrations, and manage security and feature upgrades.  You will help architect solutions to problems, be hands-on, and lead the development.

  • Drive the development and implementation of microservices using Node.JS, Golang
  • Document the technical design and approach for the features developed by you and the team
  • Implement, review, and test the services consistent with business and customer requirements
  • Expand the feature set of the platform in an extensible and scalable manner
  • Own individual modules and act as the technical SME for them
  • Get challenged on your DS & Algorithm skills and Design patterns every day
  • Teach and groom junior developers and help them produce great code
  • Make and deliver recommendations for functionality and architecture that will keep the eCommerce platform maintainable and enable stable, rapid deployments

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors / Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in software development
  • Proficient in building backend services with JavaScript frameworks
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Event Queues
  • Proven experience implementing scalable services with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Highly Proficient in technologies like:
    • Node.js
    • SQL/NoSQL
    • AWS
  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch & operations
  • Experience in communicating with other business teams and translating product requirements to technical plans with solutions and alternate options
  • Ability to come up with a high-level design based on the requirements, document and explain to junior members of the team
  • Excellent written communication skills to produce documents & coach remote teams

The salary range for this role, for candidates based in California, is expected to be between $212,500 and $246,000.  Actual pay will be determined by considering relevant skills and experience and comparing them to other employees in the role.
