About the Role

An opportunity currently exists for a suitably qualified physiotherapist to join the physiotherapy department. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high quality, overall physiotherapy management to the acute general medical and complex aged service patients as part of the cardiorespiratory team based at the Fitzroy campus of St Vincent’s Hospital.  

This position reports to the Grade 4 cardiorespiratory team leader and involves taking a leadership role within the department and on the general medicine multidisciplinary team. This role is also responsible for contributing to quality activities and research projects within the cardiorespiratory team. The role is also responsible for supervision of junior staff, and Allied Health Assistants and other duties as directed/delegated.

Must have, or be currently eligible for, National Physiotherapist Registration.

Classifications for this position will range from VB7 – VC1 ($102,091 - $116,646 per annum)

Duties include

• Provide leadership and co-ordination of the general medicine and complex aged care physiotherapy teams.

• Provide assessment and clinical management to patients in the acute general medical service and complex aged service units.

• Supervision and management of the clinical education program for undergraduate students.

• Provide a tertiary level of consultancy in outlying wards as required.

• Involvement in multidisciplinary ward meetings and planning.

• Lead research and/or quality improvement activities in the cardiorespiratory team.

Your contribution

• Minimum seven years of post-graduate experience.
• Post-graduate qualification in relevant area of physiotherapy (or working towards) would be highly regarded.
• Broad experience in and knowledge of physiotherapy management in an acute setting.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and extensive experience in the supervision and professional development of physiotherapists, students and support staff.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Current Nationally Coordinated criminal history check, or willing to obtain.
