DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY The Rehabilitation Department provides therapy and nursing services to patients, families and patient’s caregivers including Rehabilitation Nursing Care, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology. Our department operates as a system department and provides services to Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility and Outpatient settings across four campuses. Our Rehabilitation department offers a variety of specialty services across the various services delivery areas.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Rehabilitation Data Analyst performs data abstraction for quality metrics and forecasts, analyzes, and coordinates Rehab system staffing processes for acute, outpatient and inpatient rehab settings in accordance with SCHS Rehabilitation system therapy operation policies and procedures. This role is also responsible for all charge reconciliation and charge capture knowledge and process. The Rehab Data Analyst is required to maintain general regulatory knowledge specific to rehabilitation and this role supports the Inpatient Rehab Facility prospective payment system process including: IRF PAI data collection, entry, and transmittal. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Provides support to department leaders for quality related data requests, reporting tasks, statistical tracking, presentation, charts, and department reports. Prepares data for trend analysis and facilitates awareness and communicates regularly with process owners and/or improvement teams regarding data reports.
Subject matter expert for software applications related to scheduling, staffing, database, timekeeping and charging (including both internal and external vendor applications).
Demonstrate independence in contacting software vendor support when appropriate to report problems or find solutions as applicable.
Provides analytical and technical support for applications and to application users, orienting new users.
Collects clinical data from open and closed medical records and enters them into relevant data tracking files/spreadsheets in accordance with specific guidelines.
Analyzes rehab staffing practices and requirements, applying Rehabilitation Therapy Operations policies and procedures, and coordinating staffing related processes for acute, outpatient and inpatient rehab settings. Demonstrates specifics tasks related to long term staff forecasting, ETO processing, staffing incident data management, adjustment, and distribution of staffing calendars as applicable.
Provides administrative support for leadership staff. Acts as a resource to caregivers.
Supports process improvement activities and provides input to rehab leadership.
Maintains general regulatory knowledge specific to rehabilitation including but not limited to Joint Commission requirements, Medicare, managed care programs, hospital/rehab policies and procedures, medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT, modifiers and outcomes coding.
Maintains sufficient knowledge to modify, reconcile and capture charges, performing SCHS rehab system charge reconciliation duties.
Coordinates Inpatient Rehab Facility prospective payment system process including: IRF PAI data collection, entry, and transmittal. Ensures accuracy of data.

EDUCATION
Required: Associate’s degree in Health Information Management (HIM), or related field. Relevant experience in office occupations, medical coding, medical terminology, or healthcare record extraction may substitute for formal education.

Required: N/A
Preferred: Registered Health Information technician (RHIT).
EXPERIENCE
Required: Two (2) years of administrative support, data entry and customer service experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, with strong data analysis skills.
Preferred: Two (2) years’ experience in a health care setting using an electronic medical record, reviewing charges/coding and performing data extraction. Experience with Healthcare policy and regulation, while working in a fast-paced healthcare environment highly preferred.
