Hiring Unit:
Department of Biology (Professor Andrew Gonzalez)

Position Summary:

  • Develop the BON in a Box pipeline engine web application using React, HTML and CSS.

  • Performs integrated tests of the developed features, and of possible side-effects.

  • Performs code peer-reviews, including testing.

  • Collaborates with the GEO BON secretariat, the BON in a Box team and possibly a graphic designer.

  • Tracks tasks with GitHub issues.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Attention to detail.

  • Good time management skills.

  • Able to work in a team.

  • The work will happen in short iterative cycles where the tasks are explained, planned, implemented & tested, reviewed, and adjusted. All these tests are done in collaboration.

  • Enrolled as a student in software engineering or computer science.

  • Programming (React).

  • HTML & CSS.

  • Web development experience (including projects, contests and internships).

  • Enrolled in the Work Study Program, McGill University.

Other Information:

  • Remote work 3 days per week. In office, 2 days per week.

Location:  This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.

Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.  The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (2) qualifier on a scale of 0-4.
