Department Overview

Motorola's Access Control Division's (previously OpenPath, now Avigilon Alta) mission is to improve your workday with smart office technology at your front door. We are looking for candidates who can help us build, scale and innovate as we develop our industry leading platform for access control and office automation. Strong analytical and software skills are a must in order to join our team, and we are particularly seeking candidates with experience and skills in multiple technologies, in order to contribute broadly to our team-centric approach to product development.


Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and talented software engineer with machine learning focus with a particular interest in working on video and vision. As part of our access control team you will work alongside scientists and engineers to implement, deploy and maintain systems that will directly impact users in the public safety and commercial domains in the form of products and services that make use of access control and video security. This role requires skills in working with both science and engineering tools and environments to train models and realize them in working demonstrations and production.

More specifically this involves:

  • Implementing and improving our video pipelines for access control, live viewing and video AI
  • Employing GenAI tools and pipeline for various product lines
  • Developing modeling tools, training recipes and prototypes utilizing programming skills in Python and C/C++.

As part of the team, you will develop and implement services on IoT devices to provide video and audio services empowered by backend cloud services. Our team is involved in the entire development life cycle – including, building algorithms, designing APIs, integrating with different cloud service providers and production deployment and maintenance. This brings unique opportunities to develop new holistic ideas in the domain and deliver a better experience for our customers.

Desired Background/Knowledge/Skills

  • Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, complexity analysis, data structures, problem solving and diagnosis
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and basic knowledge of networking fundamentals
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Dependable written and oral communication skills

  • Must be pursuing a minimum of a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a relevant field with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
