About the Job:

The Vice President of Patient Care Services is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing clinical operations, advancing nursing practice, and driving the execution and evaluation of strategic initiatives and clinical programs. This individual ensures that all patient care services, with a focus on nursing excellence, meet the highest standards of care, align with organizational goals, comply with regulatory requirements, and promote evidence-based best practices. By fostering innovation, shared governance, and operational excellence, the VP integrates operations into the organization’s Quality Management System, ensuring safety and quality are embedded throughout the discipline. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, this leader champions a culture of continuous improvement and patient-centered care, advancing the organization’s vision to inspire wellness, heal patients, and serve with compassion in every interaction.

What You’ll Do:

  • Execute the organization’s clinical strategy, ensuring alignment with the mission, vision, and long-term goals.
  • Oversee the deployment of system strategy and day-to-day operations across the Elliot Health System.
  • Assist executive management in resolving operational issues and developing strategic plans for improved patient care/outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to drive positive change, grow services, support organizational initiatives while maintaining an expert workforce.
  • Define core strategies for recruitment and retention of professional nursing and patient care staff to attract and retain high-performing employees.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, management, and evaluation of clinical initiatives and programs to enhance patient outcomes and experience.
  • Lead efforts to achieve excellence in patient care delivery, including compliance with regulatory standards, clinical benchmarks, and accreditation requirements.
  • Promote and integrate safety and quality principles across all nursing disciplines, supporting continuous evaluation and improvement of nursing care delivery.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to integrate clinical goals and teams, including nursing, medical, and interdisciplinary staff, ensuring optimal staffing and resource allocation, supporting sustainable growth and financial performance.
  • Drive innovation in clinical practice, leveraging technology and data analytics to optimize workflows and improve staffing models, clinical decision-making, care delivery, and efficiency.
  • Develop, implement, and standardize clinical programs informed by the latest evidence-based practices to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Establish policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistent and quality care delivery across all locations.
  • Ensure nursing operations are fully aligned with the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS), upholding key processes as outlined in the Quality Manual and associated policies.
  • Lead and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including clinical, administrative, and physician groups, to achieve unified goals.
  • Partner with organizational leaders to align nursing operations with broader clinical service goals, ensuring seamless integration of hospital and ambulatory nursing services across the patient care continuum.
  • Facilitates the development, maintenance, and monitoring of organizational plans and integrated, strategy aligned departmental work plans.
  • Confer and collaborates with other members of leadership to support and develop operations best practices, management strategies and procedures that meet interdepartmental and shared organizational goals.
  • Facilitate leadership development within the nursing discipline, empowering nurse leaders to contribute to strategic and operational execution.

Who You Are:

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN approved RN program required. BSN or higher in Nursing required. Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare related field required.
  • Current New Hampshire or multistate licensure as Registered Nurse. Professional leadership certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in nursing leadership
  • In-depth understanding of nursing leadership principles across inpatient, ambulatory, and specialty care settings. Excellent budgetary knowledge required. Experience with accreditation and regulatory requirements related to healthcare quality and safety.
  • Advanced skills in strategic planning, project management, and operational integration within nursing and patient care services. Advanced proficiency with suite of Microsoft tools including word, powerpoint, excel, visio, Teams, etc.
