Join our Banking Technology Team!
Reporting into our Engineering Manager of the Banking Technology squad, you will contribute to the build of our web application.
Are you a collaborative, motivated engineer with experience building back end systems and APIs? You are a strong communicator, meticulous, and able to present ideas clearly with strong problem solving and solution oriented approach!
As a Software Engineer you will be:
- Applying creative problem solving that bring software designs to life.
- Collaborate with product partners software engineers, quality engineers and IT business analysts to uncover opportunities to deliver new business value through software.
- Designing, coding, unit testing and integrating new features and functionality
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable back-end systems and APIs.
- Collaborating with front-end developers, product managers, and other business customers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Maintaining and ensure high quality software by writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that adheres to industry practices and coding standards, with accountability for production reliability and usage.
- Supporting the squad in identifying interdependencies, providing estimates, profiling technical risks, and documenting technical debt.
- Managing and optimizing data storage solutions using Redis.
- Promoting and applying agile (SAFe) principles and methodology.View Orignal JOB on: italents.net
- Assisting in the development of automated tests to ensure delivery of high-quality code.
- Updating progress daily through Stand ups and the tracking tool (Jira) and Kanban board.
- Performing various investigative “Spikes” to mitigate technical uncertainty and risk.
- Assisting with required documentation e.g. deployment, maintenance, support, and business needs.
- Assisting with production support and releases. Able to solve and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry standard processes.
You will bring and continuously build upon the following skills:
- Participating in ideation and brainstorming sessions to devise creative and exciting digital solutions. We need and value fresh ideas.
- Participating in the weekly meetings to assist the Product Partner to refine the Product Backlog including providing initial estimates.
- Mentoring other engineers on the team.
- Building interpersonal relationships by working closely with the Engineering Manager, Product Partner, Quality Engineers, and Analysts in a globally distributed environment.
Technical Skills and Preferred experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years Development experience
- Languages such as Java - (Spring Boot), Nodejs,
- Experience working with Public/Private/Hybrid cloud architecture (PaaS) using AKS preferably and Azure, Azure SQL, etc.
- REST APIs
- Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Core Spring frameworks
- Experience with Database Technologies such as MS SQL, Oracle, DB2 and query languages such as PSQL, TSQL, etc
- Experience with OS platforms such as Linux, Unix and Windows
- Knowledge of micro/web service architectures
- GitHub for source control
- Jira and Confluence for task and content management
- Knowledge and experience with SCM tools and standard methodologies (GIT, Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, etc.)
- Jenkins, Maven, Snyk, and SonarQube for DevOps pipelines

Primary Location
Working Arrangement
Salary range is expected to be between
$60,900.00 CAD - $113,100.00 CADIf you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact recruitment@manulife.com for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
