Job Description: Data Scientist

DuPont is accepting applications for a position as a Data Scientist. This position will be at DuPont’s Hsinchu Site I, Taiwan. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team that plays a vital and dynamic role in the company’s R&D department.

DuPont is a market leader in specialty materials for electronic devices, housing construction, protective garments, and water purification. In this role, the Data Scientist will collaborate with clients within the company who are engaged in a variety of research and development projects.

A strong candidate will have expertise in data science practices such as data cleaning, regression, machine learning, deep learning, large language models, and computer vision. The applicant should have fluent coding skills in Python or R, with the ability to prepare data for analysis, build models, create descriptive plots and reports, and understand deep learning models (including large language models and computer vision models). Beyond these technical skills, the job requires an organized worker who can solve challenging problems with a series of logical steps, effectively communicate their methods and results to clients in the business, and collaborate with our data engineering and R&D team to query data and deploy models.

Required Skills & Education

• A PhD degree or a (MS degree+ 2 plus years of experience) in science & engineering technical field
• Strong coding skills in Python or R including data preparation, regression, and plotting
• Formal education in statistics, including regression and hypothesis testing
• Expertise in machine learning and deep learning techniques in clustering, classification and neural network, large language models, computer vision models with emphasis on supervised learning and large language models
• Past experience with large language models (RAG, distillation, small language models,etc.) is preferred
• Past experience with cloud computing using Microsoft Azure is preferred
• Basic competency with SQL, MongoDB database queries and visualization prototyping
• Research experience in applying data science to solve business, engineering, or scientific problems
• Self-learning with the intellectual curiosity to keep abreast of advances in the field, grow data science expertise, and refine grasp of internal business operations over time
• Effective interpersonal skills for communicating technical concepts to a non-experts, collaborating with team members, and confidence presenting data analysis results to internal clients
