Job Summary: The Software Engineer LIBR develops a comprehensive biostatistical strategy for research studies at Laureate Institute for Brain Research. This role provides statistical analysis and design methods to Investigators.


Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in software development using python, Java Script, C/C++, or Java and version control.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in an efficient/effective manner.  Superb interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.  Ability to be detail-orientated.  Ability to work in a team environment.  Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills including: the ability to identify, research, and resolve complex technical support issues.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Writes code including python, C/C++, JavaScript to implement new custom software and improve existing software.  Projects may involve building or adapting custom hardware solutions.  Maintains existing code, to include troubleshooting, debugging, updating, and improving functionality.  Performs data engineering duties, which may include database development, data reformatting, report building, auditing, metadata documentation, and facilitating the transfer of data between internal and external parties.  Provides technical documentation and standard operating procedures for on-site developed tools and products adapted for use at the Institute.  Works with customers to determine project scope and solution design including the technical problem to solve, software use cases and desired functionality.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.

Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others(does not supervise.)  Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction.  Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.  Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
