Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with IRN personnel to assess their needs and identify the most effective types of data visualizations, charts, and tools to meet organizational goals and audience requirements.
  • Selects, configures and implements data visualization tools.
  • Develops and delivers dashboards, interactive visualizations, and web-based applications as required.
  • Applies basic statistical concepts and techniques for data analysis and interpretation, ensuring insights are accurate and meaningful.
  • Develops, documents and applies data visualization best practices to align with organizational needs, branding and accessibility standards.
  • Provides technical training to IRN personnel, either individually or in groups.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance data visualization capabilities.
  • Stays current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in data visualization.
  • Supports the Research Development team and IRNs by contributing to funding proposals, reports, presentations, manuscripts etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or related field.
  • Five years professional experience in data visualization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or related field.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary research teams in a research-intensive university setting.  Experience working in public health research highly desirable.  
  • Strong aptitude for translating complex technical data into clear, accessible, and visually compelling formats for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven proficiency with Power BI, QlikView, Tableau and/or other data visualization tools
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Salary Range

$65,900.00 - $112,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
