NIE invites applications for the position of part-time software developer for the project “PhET-style simulations to promote AI literacy”. The project’s goal is to develop a curated library of interactive, high-quality online resources for teachers that puts NIE at the forefront of AI literacy. To work towards this goal, the project will start out by developing customizable web-based simulations and corresponding avatar-based narrative instructional videos catering to three fundamental topics in AI literacy -
Responsibilities
- Gathering requirements for simulation design from domain experts
- Agile prototyping of mock UI/UX interfaces for the simulations
- Programming and iteratively refining the simulations based on expert feedback and usability testing
- Building data logging capabilities in the designed simulations
- Developing facilitation guides to assist stakeholders’ work with designed simulations
- Working with NIE’s IT teams to host simulations securely and ensure seamless interoperability with existing NIE platforms
- Managing the project and ensuring timely completion of milestones
Requirements
Essential
- A Polytechnic Diploma
- Full stack software development and debugging experience
- Knowledge of computer graphics and interface design
- Fluent in coding with generative AI
- Solid understanding of fundamental machine learning and AI techniques
- Creativity, good communication skills and ability to work as team player
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred
- Work, teaching, or corporate training experience in AI for education
- Familiarity with AI literacy efforts worldwide, in APAC and Singapore
- Up-to-date with latest advancements in generative AI (for education)
- Passion for improving teaching and learning with technology
