About the Role
The Reaxys team at Elsevier is seeking a skilled Software Engineer with experience in developing Java-based distributed systems over Kubernetes with a background in natural sciences. The candidate should be comfortable working with machine learning or search workloads at scale and is open to embracing and adjusting to the evolving software engineering landscape being driven by the augmentation of AI tools.

Education & Experience:
3+ years of Software Engineering experience
An academic degree with a focus on Natural Sciences is preferred.
Degree in Computer Science engineering or equivalent are also encouraged.
2+ years of hands-on Java development, preferably Java 17 and above.
Your Responsibilities:
Architect and develop distributed systems over Kubernetes.
Write code and automated tests to match detailed user stories.
Actively participate and lead the discussions in your area of expertise.
Proactively share knowledge and mentor team members in your area of expertise.
You should bring:
Strong understanding of cheminformatics concepts.
Experience of working with Spring ecosystem along with Kubernetes.
Familiarity with cheminformatics software such as RDKit or Chemaxon
Highly developed problem-solving skills within the Life science domain
Proven ability to strategize & learn different software frameworks & technologies.
Fluent oral & written English along with the ability to communicate complex topic to non-technology stakeholders.
