The Technology + Innovation Lab is looking for a Machine Learning Advisor to help integrate and optimize machine learning models in production environments. In this role, you’ll contribute to deploying models through effective MLOps practices, working alongside experienced data scientists, and engineers to bridge the gap between experimentation and real-world applications.

We’re looking for someone with a solid foundation in software engineering and a growing interest in machine learning operations. You should be eager to learn, experiment, and contribute to the development of reliable systems by writing high-quality, maintainable code. Familiarity with unit testing and best practices for ensuring code quality is important, as you’ll help ensure that ML solutions are robust, scalable, and ready for production.

What you will do:

  • Build automated workflows for ETL, data engineering, data cleaning and transformation, model training and evaluation
  • Define and manage MLOps processes for registering and deploying models to production environments
  • Leverage software engineering patterns such as Object-Oriented programming and Test-Driven Development
  • Develop automated processes to monitor production model performance including model and data drift
  • Focus on continuing to fine-tune and optimize model performance through experiments with feature engineering, hyper-parameter tuning and model architecture change
  • Proactively monitor issues and implement fixes/improvements in the model and their respective computing environments
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and software development to continuously improve our solutions
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including technical leads, data scientists, software engineers, and product owners to integrate machine learning solutions into production systems
  • Document and communicate optimal approaches, recommendations and technical standards around ML

Who you are:

You have:

  • 4+ years of experience in a Software Engineering role along with a degree in computer science, engineering or another related subject area and an understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques within the ML development lifecycle
  • Architectural knowledge of Generative AI solutions using LLM’s and architecture such as agentic and RAG

You can:

  • Show proven experience in developing, documenting and communicating effective strategies, best practices and tools for software development (i.e. version control, testing and CI/CD)

You are:

  • Proficient in using the following software/tools:
    • Experience with DevOps Platforms such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise automating software development lifecycle
    • Cloud AI Development Platform: Databricks, Microsoft Azure
    • Programming skills in languages such as Python
    • ML Frameworks/Libraries: scikit-learn, MLFlow, TensorFlow or Py Torch
    • IDE: Visual Studio Code

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
