What is the opportunity?

Situated within the Data Management Office in Toronto, this role will support the ESG team at RBC Global Asset Management (GAM). As a leading asset management firm, the growing significance of incorporating ESG factors into investment strategies, as well as the importance of adhering to upcoming regulations requires high quality data. This role will focus on enhancing data operations, implementing new systems/processes as needed, and collaborating with multiple teams and across different time zones.

What will you do?

  • Supporting provision of data to current and upcoming ESG regulations and ensuring that ESG data provided to clients is accurate.

  • Implementing ESG data quality processes throughout RBC systems.

  • Collaborating with the project office and IT to improve the ESG portal.

  • Ensuring ESG restriction lists data which is used for monitoring in trading systems by the investment policy team accurately reflect client restrictions.

  • Collaborating and supporting ESG SME’s to identify, collect, and analyze data from various sources.

  • Integrate ESG data into existing investment processes and support the development of new processes.

  • Communicate ESG data insights to ESG teams, analysts, and other internal stakeholders.

  • Be the point person for ESG data related queries and troubleshooting and work closely with the ESG team to understand business requirements and help identify, implement and maintain data solutions with IT developers.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Approximately 3 years in a professional work environment, ideally within an asset management firm. Primary skillset needed is Data/IT related, but with a passion for ESG which they will have the ability to develop with time.

  • Working knowledge of Python, Excel, and SQL.

  • Adaptability, initiative, and resilience.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Team player with a curiosity and willingness to learn as part of a team.

Nice to Have  

  • A strong interest in ESG matched with an eagerness to learn

  • Good understanding on Technology and how it can help solve problems.

  • Strong work ethic and time management skills.
